Making the grade: 22 area hospitals receive an 'A' for patient safety
October 31, 2017
Twenty-two hospitals in southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey that received the top “A” grade in the fall 2017 Leapfrog hospital safety grades announced Tuesday.

The Leapfrog Group uses 27 national performance measures to grade a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. Taken together, those performance measures produce a single letter grade from “A” to “F.”

Nationally, 832 of the 2,632 general acute-care hospitals graded nationwide received an “A” grade.

“It takes consistent, unwavering dedication to patients to achieve the highest standards of patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that works to improve quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system.

Nationally, 15 hospitals received an “F”. No local hospitals received a failing grade.
