PHILADELPHIA, PA— (October 25, 2022)—The Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health (GPBCH) is proud to announce its Ten Year Anniversary Celebration to be held on November 10th at Aramark Headquarters in Philadelphia. The Coalition will commemorate its first ten years of working with employers and other healthcare system stakeholders to improve workforce and community health and healthcare equity, quality, safety, and value.
The Honorable James Francis Kenney, Mayor of Philadelphia, will offer some welcoming remarks. The first 100 registrants will receive a free copy of the newly-printed book "How COVID Crashed the System: A Guide to Fixing American Health Care", with author Dr. David Nash on hand to sign books from 5pm to 6pm. Also speaking at the celebration are Mike Thompson, CEO of the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, and Jill Berger, Director, Employer & Payor Engagement of the Leapfrog Group. At the celebration, GPBCH will announce the launch of an internship with GPBCH for minority college students in our region starting in June 2023. Proceeds from the Silent Auction at the event will support funding of the program.
“We are excited to celebrate our accomplishments with our Coalition members, other healthcare stakeholders, and local and national leaders who support our mission of advancing healthcare value. We have been able to demonstrate that when employers work together they can achieve more than they can each do on their own, and the public benefits from these efforts, says GPBCH President and CEO Neil Goldfarb. The Coalition currently has 50 employer member organizations representing over 750,000 lives in the local market and 1.5 million lives nationally. The Coalition’s 43 affiliate members, who engage with the employers in support of GPBCH’s mission, include benefits consultants, pharmaceutical manufacturers, service vendors, and other healthcare players. The GPBCH service area includes Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and the State of Delaware.
Since its inception in 2012, GPBCH has focused on initiatives to improve healthcare quality, safety and transparency and population health. In additional to the strides made in reporting to the Annual Leapfrog Hospital Survey, GPBCH offers educational programs and webinars, and leads initiatives and research on value-based insurance design, health and wellness program engagement, obesity/diabetes prevention and management, and employer/community healthcare engagement.
“The City of Philadelphia has been an active participant and supporter of the Coalition over the last ten years. GPBCH is a trusted source for information, tools and resources to help employers identify innovative approaches to manage and advance workforce and community health. The Return on Investment far exceeds the membership dues,” says Marsha Greene-Jones, GPBCH Board Chair and Deputy Human Resources Director, City of Philadelphia.
GPBCH is a member of the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions that represents 50 employer coalitions nationwide. GPBCH not only focuses on the local healthcare market for its employer members, but also leverages and shares advocacy and best practices nationally for its members through the National Alliance.
