PHILADELPHIA, PA— (April 19, 2023)— The Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health (GPBCH) is honoring 12 regional hospitals and one ambulatory surgery center (ASC) with 2022 GPBCH Regional Quality and Safety Awards, recognizing performance excellence in quality and safety. The awards ceremony will take place on April 19th at the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. Hosted by GPBCH and the Health Care Improvement Foundation, this annual event brings together healthcare leaders and employers to discuss the value of the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, ASC Survey and Safety Grade in driving real progress towards a safer, higher-quality, more transparent health care system for all and to recognize top performing hospitals and ASCs in the region.

"Public availability of measures of quality of care and patient safety is more important than ever, as the COVID pandemic severely stretched provider resources and many facilities continue to face staffing shortages,” states GPBCH President and CEO Neil Goldfarb. “We applaud those provider organizations that not only were brave enough to make their data available to the employers we represent and to the larger public, but also to those who by doing so are able to demonstrate excellent performance.”

GPBCH, an employer coalition with 53 members representing more than 1.5 million covered lives, serves as the Leapfrog Regional Leader for southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware, and also tracks Leapfrog data for southern New Jersey, where the New Jersey Healthcare Quality Institute serves as Leapfrog Regional Leader. To qualify for the 2022 GPBCH Regional Quality and Safety Hospital Award, a hospital must have reported on all applicable measures on the 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, must have Achieved the Standard for at least 10 out of 14 particular Survey measures, and received a “B” or higher for the spring and fall 2022 Safety Grade. For an ASC to qualify for the 2022 GPBCH Regional Quality and Safety ASC Award, an ASC must have Achieved the Standard for at least 7 of 10 particular measures on the 2022 Leapfrog ASC Survey.
